GoDaddy Auctions® bidder verification process

GoDaddy’s bidder verification process protects both buyers and sellers against fraudulent auction activity. Bidding on or listing domains for sale can start immediately after purchasing a GoDaddy Auctions® membership, but you'll be limited to placing 2 bids at any given time or placing US$1500 total in bids.

There are three auction types that require verification:

  • Value Priced: Re-acquired domain names up for auction.
  • Expiry Auctions: Expired domain names up for auction.
  • 7-day Auctions: Domain names listed by other sellers in a traditional auction.

Bidder verification is required if you need to exceed the bid limits, but not required if you’re only selling domains or purchasing with “buy now” or “make offer” options below the US$1500 limit.

  1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Auctions® account. (Need help logging in? Find your username or password.)
  2. Select Settings.

  3. On the General tab under Account Status, select Enter your PayPal info.
  4. Enter your first name, last name, and PayPal email address (as they would appear in your PayPal account) and select Submit. The PayPal account must be 100% verified by PayPal standards.
  5. GoDaddy will send you an email either confirming your PayPal address, or stating that your PayPal contact information isn't valid and must be re-entered. Please contact PayPal to resolve any issues.
  6. Select the secure link in the confirmation email to complete verification.

A PayPal account is only required for bidder verification and can only be used to verify one GoDaddy account. You can use your payment method of choice when purchasing a domain.
