GoDaddy - API Terms of Use
PLEASE READ THESE API TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY, AS THEY CONTAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, OBLIGATIONS, AND REMEDIES.
1. OverviewThese API Terms of Use (“API Terms”) govern your access to and use of GoDaddy's application programming interfaces, developer tools, software development kits, related documentation, and other developer services that we make available (collectively, the “API”). By requesting, generating, activating, or using an API key, token, secret, or any other credential or access mechanism issued by GoDaddy that authorizes access to the API (collectively, an “API Credential”) you agree to these API Terms. The API is designed to enable customers to build applications, integrations, automations, and AI-assisted workflows that interact with GoDaddy products and services in secure and reliable ways, including through software, scripts, automations, artificial intelligence tools, coding assistants, autonomous agents, integrated development environments, browser extensions, middleware, orchestration platforms, plugins, and similar technologies or services that generate, submit, relay, or execute API requests on your behalf (collectively, “Automated Tools”). These API Terms supplement, and do not replace, GoDaddy's Universal Terms of Service, Domain Name Registration Agreement, Refund Policy, Registry Policies, Global Privacy Notice, and any other applicable agreements, policies, or terms governing the products or services that you access, purchase, register, renew, transfer, modify, or otherwise manage through the API (collectively, the "Applicable Agreements"). If you purchase products or services through the API, the applicable purchase agreement presented during the purchase process also governs that transaction, including any purchase-specific terms and disclosures. If there is a conflict between these API Terms and an Applicable Agreement governing a particular GoDaddy product or service, the Applicable Agreement will control with respect to that product or service unless expressly stated otherwise.
2. API Access and UseYou may access and use the API directly or through Automated Tools to build applications, integrations, automations, and AI-assisted workflows that interact with GoDaddy products and services, provided that you comply with these API Terms, the Applicable Agreements, and all applicable laws and regulations. You are responsible for all activities conducted using your API Credential, including activities initiated through Automated Tools, and for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your API Credential. You must promptly notify GoDaddy if you know or reasonably suspect that your API Credential has been lost, stolen, compromised, or used without authorization. To help ensure the availability, security, and reliability of the API, each API endpoint is limited to sixty (60) requests per minute unless otherwise specified by GoDaddy. You must not exceed or intentionally circumvent these rate limits or other technical controls, or use the API in a manner that materially degrades, disrupts, or adversely affects the operation, availability, security, or performance of the API or any other GoDaddy products, services, websites, systems, or customers.
You may use the API only in connection with accounts, products, services, and data that you are authorized to access or manage. You may not access, modify, delete, or attempt to access, modify, or delete any account, product, service, or data for which you do not have authorization. You may not use the API to engage in fraudulent, deceptive, unlawful, malicious, or unauthorized activities, transmit malicious code or harmful content, interfere with the intellectual property rights of GoDaddy or any third party, or imply that your application, service, or Automated Tools are sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with GoDaddy except as expressly authorized by GoDaddy. You may not resell, sublicense, provide, or otherwise make the API or API access available to any third party without GoDaddy's prior written authorization. GoDaddy may establish reasonable eligibility requirements, technical requirements, feature restrictions, or access criteria for certain APIs or functionality, including production access to particular APIs or features. Current eligibility requirements and technical specifications are described in the applicable developer documentation and may be updated from time to time.
3. Purchases through the APICertain API functionality may allow you to purchase, register, renew, transfer, modify, or otherwise manage GoDaddy products or services. Any purchase or transaction initiated through the API is subject to the Applicable Agreements and any additional purchase terms, disclosures, pricing information, authorization steps, or confirmation requirements presented through the API at the time of the transaction. Before completing a purchase through the API, you will be required to review the applicable purchase terms and provide any required affirmative acceptance or confirmation before the transaction may proceed. You are responsible for ensuring that any purchase request submitted through the API, including any request submitted through Automated Tools, is accurate, authorized, and intended by you. GoDaddy may reject, cancel, suspend, or decline any API transaction that does not satisfy applicable pricing, payment, agreement, authorization, registry, fraud prevention, or technical requirements.
4. Security and API CredentialsYou are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your API Credential and for all activities performed using your API Credential, whether performed by you directly or through Automated Tools. You must not share, disclose, sell, transfer, sublicense, or otherwise make your API Credential available to any unauthorized person or service. If you know or reasonably suspect that your API Credential has been lost, stolen, compromised, or used without authorization, you must promptly revoke, rotate, or replace the affected API Credential and notify GoDaddy if the compromise could reasonably affect the security or integrity of the API or other GoDaddy services. You are responsible for implementing and maintaining reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to protect your API Credential and any systems used to access the API. GoDaddy is not responsible for losses resulting from your failure to adequately protect your API Credential or systems.
5. API Availability and ChangesGoDaddy may modify, update, enhance, suspend, discontinue, or otherwise change any part of the API or related developer services from time to time. GoDaddy will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes, where appropriate. However, GoDaddy reserves the right to make changes necessary to comply with applicable law, registry requirements, industry standards, security requirements, or to maintain the security, integrity, availability, or performance of the API.
6. Suspension and RevocationGoDaddy may suspend, limit, revoke, or terminate your access to the API or any API Credential if we reasonably believe such action is necessary to: (a) protect the security, integrity, availability, or performance of the API or other GoDaddy services; (b) prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized activity, or misuse of the API; (c) comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, or requests from governmental or regulatory authorities; (d) enforce these API Terms or the Applicable Agreements; or (e) protect GoDaddy, its customers, or third parties from harm. Where reasonably practicable, GoDaddy may provide notice before suspending or terminating access, but reserves the right to take immediate action where necessary to address security, fraud, abuse, or other urgent operational concerns.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of LiabilityTHE API IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GODADDY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, OR THAT THE API WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK ARISING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE API.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GODADDY AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE API, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, GODADDY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSSES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF AUTOMATED TOOLS, THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE OR SERVICES, OR YOUR FAILURE TO SAFEGUARD YOUR API CREDENTIAL. BECAUSE SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES OR WARRANTIES, PORTIONS OF THE FOREGOING LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU TO THE EXTENT PROHIBITED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
8. IndemnificationYou agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GoDaddy, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, service providers, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements, penalties, fines, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (i) your access to or use of the API; (ii) your violation of these API Terms, the Applicable Agreements, or applicable law; (iii) your applications, integrations, websites, services, or Automated Tools that access or interact with the API; (iv) your infringement or misappropriation of any intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; or (v) your fraud, negligence, willful misconduct, or unauthorized use of the API or an API Credential.
9. GeneralThese API Terms govern your access to and use of the API. If there is a conflict between these API Terms and an Applicable Agreement governing a particular GoDaddy product or service, the Applicable Agreement will control with respect to that product or service unless expressly stated otherwise. If any provision of these API Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. GoDaddy's failure to enforce any provision of these API Terms will not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other rights. GoDaddy may modify these API Terms from time to time by posting an updated version on its website. Any new API Credential generated after the effective date of the revised API Terms will require your agreement to the then-current version of these API Terms before issuance of the API Credential.
