Setting up forwarding, and godaddy states that email address already exists

Once upon a time I set up an email address within GoDaddy which was automatically forwarded to my gmail address.  But recently I noticed that emails sent to that address no longer show up in my gmail account.  Logging into GoDaddy, and looking at their "Workspace Email" tool, I do not see that (or any) email address listed as being associated with my domain, as it used to be.  But, when I try to set up the email address or forwarding, I am told it already exists.  So how do I find out what is going on with this email address?
