Does it make sense to buy expensive certificates (Extended Validation)?

I remember they used to show a full green bar on mobile phones but I did a small test now things seem to have changed.

Chrome - it shows all with a grey padlock - from free Let's Encrypt to Extended Validation certs from RapidSSL

Safari - it shows the address in the green font when the expensive EV cert is used.

Firefox shows a green padlock on any cert, with a green company name if the EV is used. (correction: after FF upgrade, all websites show the grey padlock)

I couldn't instantly find any organization validation (OV) certificate.

Dan

In a word, no. EV's are dying thanks to new protocols being implemented at browser companies. Give this a read and it explains it quite well.
