Becoming a site administrator

I've recently acquired two websites as part of a restructure at work. Before the previous Site Administrator 'left the building' he had given me access, however, it turns out this access is at an Editor level only (therefore unable to update plugins, appearances etc...)

Does WordPress have a way to change the access level via proof of identity (or similar) from my workplace? Without this, the site is pretty much useless as we have recently gone through a rebrand (current site now has an incorrect logo, colour theme, and no analytics)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I feel like I'm so close... yet so far from a solution Smiley Sad

If you have access to the hosting account there are several ways an administrator could be added manually.  For example here is an article on adding a user to the database.

Hello @Stephaj4, I hope you are doing well. Thank you for posting in GoDaddy community. Only Administrator can perform all website management actions. Editor, Author or Contributor level access have some restrictions on WordPress. You cannot change editor to Admin via WP Dashboard. You can also change your role via phpMyAdmin.
Follow this guide.
