Update my Microsoft 365 account to Exchange in Samsung Email (Android)

Warning: If you’re using Microsoft 365 as POP or IMAP, your data (including mail, contacts, and calendars) might not be synced to the email server and could be lost if you delete that account. You will want to back up any important data before following these steps. For instructions, please refer to your client provider.

To get the most secure, fast, and reliable email, your account should be configured as Exchange.

  1. Open your Android's Email app.

  2. Tap Three horizontal lines stacked on each other Menu, then settings gear settings menu Settings.
  3. If you're ready to remove your POP/IMAP account, tap your email address, Remove, and then Remove to confirm.
  4. To add your Exchange account, still in Settings, tap Add account.
  5. Tap Office365.

  6. Enter your Microsoft 365 email address, and then tap Next.

  7. Enter your Microsoft 365 email and password, and tap Sign In. You might need to choose your account type as Work or School, not Personal, to continue.

  8. Note: If you forgot your email password, you can reset it.
  9. If your admin enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA), verify your account or set up the Authenticator app.
    • If Microsoft can't find your account, you'll be asked to enter your details manually:
      • Username: Your Microsoft 365 email address
      • Password: Your Microsoft 365 email password
      • Server: outlook.office365.com
      • Domain\username: \[Microsoft 365 email address] (example: \jane@coolexample.com)
  10. If you are asked if you're trying to sign in to Samsung Email, tap Continue.
  11. When you are asked to grant permissions, tap Accept.
    • If you are an admin, stap the checkbox next to Consent on behalf of your organization so your other users don't see this prompt.

  12. If you are asked to apply security settings, tap Apply.
  13. The Email app automatically checks your settings. Under Manual setup, tap Done. You can come back and edit these settings at any point.

  14. If you're asked to activate security features on your device, select Activate.

  15. (Optional) Edit your Account name.
    Enter name and tap and Done
  16. Tap Done. This name is visible to recipients when you send email, so you might want to use your business name here.

Your email is now set up as an Exchange account!

Related steps

  • If Microsoft couldn’t find your account, and you were asked to enter your details manually make sure the Autodiscover CNAME record is in your DNS settings. If it's not, add a CNAME record with autodiscover for the Name and autodiscover.outlook.com for the Value.
