SSL Certificates Help

Set up my Managed SSL Certificate

Note: We offer a Managed SSL service where we install and manage the SSL certificate for you, if you prefer to spend time on other things.

After you purchase a Managed SSL, submit a request for the website you want us to secure.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Select SSL certificates and then Set up next to the Managed SSL you're setting up.
  3. The next step depends on where your site is hosted, with GoDaddy or externally.
    • Hosted with GoDaddy
      1. Select Internal Hosting.
      2. From the Step 2: Pick your hosting product for this certificate dropdown list, select the hosting product where the site you want to secure is hosted.
      3. For Step 3: Pick the domain for this certificate, either select the site from the list, or select Or enter a domain or subdomain and type the domain or subdomain for the site you want to protect. After you either select or type your site’s domain, select Next.
    • Hosted externally
      1. Select External Hosting.
      2. For Step 2: Pick the domain for this certificate, either select the domain or subdomain from the list or select Or enter a domain or subdomain and type the domain or subdomain you want to protect. After you either select or type your domain or subdomain, select Next.
      3. Type in the hosting login credentials for your site and then select Next. This information is required for us to install your SSL for you.
  4. Read the SSL Subscriber Agreement, Certificate Services Agreement and site modifications statement. If you agree, select the check boxes and then select Activate.

You will see your domain’s security status and HTTPS will show Setup in progress.

Domain security status with HTTPS section circled.

You can see the status of your installation at any time if you select Details for HTTPS. We'll let you know by email when your Managed SSL is installed on your website or if there's any additional information we need to complete the installation.

SSL Setup Service is a one-time setup. It's ideal for customers with existing SSL certificates who need help installing and eliminating browser warnings, but don't want or need ongoing cerificate management.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Select SSL certificates and then Set up next to the SSL Setup Service you're activating.
  3. On the next page that appears, next to the heading indicating how many SSL Setup Service plans you have available, select Set Up.
  4. Select Internal Hosting or External Hosting to indicate whether your site is hosted at GoDaddy or at a third-party hosting service.
  5. Select the option that describes your scenario:
    • The certificate is already installed: Choose this option when your SSL certificate is installed to hosting but you're seeing an SSL error, a mixed content warning, or the site isn't redirecting to HTTPS.
    • The certificate is integrated into hosting: Choose this option if you're using a Managed WordPress plan or if you’re using cPanel AutoSSL (Deluxe and higher).
    • The certificate will be selected from eligible SSL products: Choose this option if you have an SSL that isn't installed to hosting, isn't set up, or is on one domain and you want it rekeyed to another.
  6. Under Pick your hosting product, select the hosting product you want, and then select Next.
  7. Enter the domain name for the certificate, and then select Next.
  8. Agree to the terms that appear by selecting the appropriate check boxes, and then select Activate.
Note: By selecting each available checkbox, you enable GoDaddy to make modifications to your site, request your SSL certificate, and agree to the SSL Subscriber Agreement and the Certificate Services Agreement on your behalf.

Selecting Activate adds a ticket to the ticket queue, allowing us to monitor and complete the SSL installation for you.
